Smartphones were perhaps never as cheap as it is going to be in the next couple of months. You could now get an Android based smartphone for just Rs 2000! Maxx Mobile is going to introduce a pile of 17 new handsets including 9 smartphones within the next few weeks.
Maxx Mobile wants to break that and introduce an Android handset for an amazingly low rate of Rs 2000. The brand hopes to earn Rs 3600 crores in revenue this fiscal year with the new launches, Rs 3000 crores over the 2013 to 2014 period. The 8 feature phones which will also be released soon may grab costs even below Rs 2000.
Will it be a classic case of quantity over quality or will it be the only company to provide cheap smartphones that provides good service as well. If you ask me, I remain a bit skeptical but who am I to judge, when they were first introduced they cost around 10 or 30 grands but now, just 2 grand.
I don’t mean to be cynical about it but when someone offers you a gold nugget for just a rupee, it makes you think for more than twice about the deal. That is exactly what I’m trying to say. But then again perhaps we all saw it coming? First Moto E, then the ‘Moto killer’ ASUS, and now Maxx!
