Cyber security should be seriously considered by each and every individual or company that’s active in the internet for most of the times and if you don’t believe incidents such as getting your entire website or account hacked within minutes are just stuffs that happen in movies, I’m sure your opinion shall change by the time you finish reading this article.
According to Computer Emergency Response Team India and the IT minister, 62,189 cyber security incidents were reported only within the first five months of the current calendar year, and had been accordingly informed in the Parliament proceedings.
According to Communication and IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, “During the years 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 (till May), a total number of 21,699, 27,605, 28,481 and 9,174 Indian websites were hacked by various hacker groups spread across worldwide.”
“In addition, during these years, a total number of 13,301, 22,060, 71,780 and 62,189 security incidents, respectively, were reported to the CERT-In,” Prasad added.
But you might ask who are these guys, that are constantly attempting to pose threats to Indian cyberspace?
The answer provided by the IT minister says “These attacks have been observed to be originating from the cyber space of a number of countries including the US, Europe, Brazil, Turkey, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Algeria and the UAE,” he added.
