A massive shift is underway in the Hindi digital news space.
Saurabh Dwivedi, the face and force behind The Lallantop, is moving on from the India Today Group after a defining twelve-year stint. Sources indicate he is exiting to pursue new creative avenues.
The Dwivedi Legacy Dwivedi’s departure marks the end of a specific chapter for the group. Starting as a features editor at aajtak.in, he co-created The Lallantop and turned it into a case study for digital success.
He didn’t just build a channel; he built a distinct voice that resonated with the “Hindi Heartland.” Under his watch, the platform grew to nearly 35 million YouTube subscribers, clocking over 250 million views last month alone. He proved that digital news could be conversational without losing credibility.
The New Guard: Internal Succession The India Today Group has opted for continuity over a shake-up. The leadership is passing to the founding team who built the platform alongside Dwivedi:
-
Kuldeep Mishra takes over full editorial responsibility. A familiar face to the audience through shows like The LT Show and Netanagari, Mishra has been a core part of the brand’s evolution from day one.
-
Rajat Sain, another founding member, will head the production team, ensuring the visual and operational consistency remains intact.
What’s Next? For The Lallantop, this is a “homegrown” transition aimed at keeping the newsroom culture stable. For Dwivedi, the industry is now waiting to see what format his storytelling takes next.
