Ever had one of those days when you had some important work to do but at the same time didn’t want to miss your favorite TV show? Surely you could watch a video or a simple clip in your smartphone and still enjoy it but watching the game in a big screen is the real fun. But what if you could have a portable TV?
Yes those days are not far away, thanks to LG. LG Display has developed an 18-inch flexible display that can be rolled into the shape of a thin cylinder, a step toward making a large display for flexible TVs.
While the TV might have a resolution of 1200*810 which would eventually make it fall under the High Definition TV’s, the images and videos however aren’t that crisp in details in comparison to the modern UHD TV’s.
But exactly how big a TV could become with this portable technology? Well, according to their claims, the cylinder’s diameter would be just 2.4 inches which would mean that LG Display could produce TVs that are larger than 50 inches diagonally and can be rolled up. Now that is nothing short of impressive.
And it just gets better, by 2017, LG aims to develop a flexible and transparent display that measures more than 60 inches diagonally.
