Yu Televentures (partly owned by Micromax) has unveiled the YUtopia, a new flagship killer, few days back. The company did pretty well in the low segment market with its YUreka and YUphoria. But it seems the company has diversified future plans to cover the Indian smartphone market. That’s why they’ve entered into the mid-range market with their latest high-end spec oriented device named YUtopia touted as “most powerful phone on the planet.”
Priced at Rs 24,999 this one comes with features that are set to assist the YUtopia phone against some big players in the segment that also includes OnePlus 2.
Let’s discuss the specifications of the device, this time, YU has skipped the plastic and gone for an all-metal unibody design, but the outer structure still reminds you of YU siblings. Having said that, Yutopia has an impressive design, comes with a thickness of 7.2mm, at the back you have a camera and dual-tone LED flash lodged within a fulminatory circle, which, at first glance, remind you of the Nokia Lumia 1020. There is also a fingerprint sensor below the camera, the volume and power keys are easy to reach on the right, and the two SIM slots are on the left. There are one Micro-SIM slot and one Nano-SIM slot that doubles as the microSD card slot, which means you have to choose one or the other. The headphones jack and Micro-USB port are placed on the top and bottom respectively.
The YUtopia features a display screen of 5.2-inch WQHD (1440×2560) resolution for a density of 565ppi, it packs a 64-bit Snapdragon Qualcomm 810 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage space.
For photography purposes, the phone has a 21 Megapixel camera with a Sony Exmor RS IMX230 sensor, true-tone dual-LED flash, a 5P lens, and optical image stabilization on the rear side and a 8 Megapixel on the front. Though Yutopia uses the Snapdragon 810 which is prone to heating issues, but the company says they’ve customized the battery performance to enable the elements like efficiency, performance, balanced, etc. which will restrain the heating on the phone.
YUtopia comes with CyanogenMod OS 12 on Android 5.1.1. At the launch, Cyanogen said that it is presently working on OS 13, which is their version of Android 6 (Marshmallow), they’ll roll out the OS 13 version for Yutopia users in coming days.
In addition to this, YUtopia also comes with its Around YU services. This is designed to provide one-tap access to services such as ordering food, booking flights, hotels, taxis, shopping and more. The core purpose here is to create one stop platform services instead of having to download multiple apps such as Flipkart, Foodpanda, Ola and so forth, which eventually occupy storage space. Around Yu can be accessed by swiping right from the first home screen. Zomato, Ola, ixigo and other partners are currently available through this service.
The phone is backed by a 3000 mAH battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology. YU has stated that the phone battery can go from 0 to 60 percent with 30 minutes of charging. Overall, the YUtopia seems to be a rattling smartphone given the specs and is Yu’s most powerful smartphone to date. The YUtopia will be available for purchase on December 25 and if you are planning to buy one then check Super Smart Deals for the best deal on YUtopia.
