What kind of new television technology will soon hit the world? There will be a lot more to the technology than merely allowing viewers to connect to the Internet from their televisions; as such technology is becoming more popular already with the introduction of Google TV. That technology allows users to access the Internet from their television, watch web videos, play games, check fantasy sports scores, chat and do other things people routinely do online. Some planned technology will allow users to receive coupons and buy products while watching television, and there will be a variety of 3D televisions.
One type of new television technology like the residents of Canada will be able to enjoy will be icueTV. The makers of icueTV claim users will be offered many more interactive features and will be able to get many shopping bargains with the technology. The
The company that makes the technology has partnered with Groupon to allow interaction with advertising. Viewers will be able to click to text. By clicking on a menu or enter their cell phone numbers to get text messages. Viewers will be able to receive coupons, buy merchandise, and get menus while watching television. In addition, other advertisers may become involved, giving users a greater chance for savings.
Viewers will soon be able to start watching many more 3D movies at home, when a variety of new products will hit the shelves worldwide soon. Samsung 3D televisions, with 3D glasses, are already in many stores. Some say such televisions allow for sharp pictures and colour. Such televisions will come in LCD’s or plasma, and the technology will in the not too distant feature come to laptops, cell phones, and portable game consoles. Although it is currently only available in China, Samsung has made a 3D television that does not require the glasses. The TV has two LCD panels that will replace the glasses. It may take three years or so, but no doubt the technology will one day be available in most places in the world.
Toshiba is now making televisions that come with built-in blue-ray disc players.
OLED television is one technology that has been promised. Some have said it will replace plasma and LCD televisions. It will be as thin as paper that weighs only ounces, and will supposedly have brighter colours, a wider viewing angle, and better contrast.
A 3D Playstation player is scheduled to come out in late 2011. Two players will be able to see different images on the television screen by just pushing a button. Makers of such a system say the players will feel more immersed in the game they are playing. They claim users will feel in the middle of the game they are playing.
There are also reports that Apple Computer stores may start selling television sets later this year, sets that are far ahead of any televisions on the market. Reportedly, such sets would combine iTunes and Netflix capability. Such technologies would stream existing cable service through Netflix or iTunes.
Another new technology that is out but might become more popular in stores is the Peel. It allows you to use an iPhone or iPad as a television remote.
Another technology involving television programming started this year when ESPN launched an application that allowed users to watch such things as the NBA playoffs, the Masters, and the Major League Baseball season on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod.
No doubt these are only some of the new technologies already out or being planned for everyone to purchase soon.
