As we all know that The Home Depot, an American retailer of home improvement and construction products and services was recently targeted by group of hackers as their payment system were breached by hackers and almost 56 Million credit cards were compromised.
This security issue in THD were firstly reported by Brian Krebs, a security news reporter and he said that (he was seeing evidence of credit card numbers linked to Home Depot purchases being sold online)
Now as per the latest report from The New York Times, suggesting that members of “THD” didn’t consider early alerts from their own cyber security team seriously and reportedly told by company’s cybersecurity teams to NY Times.
Former employees also added that company used outdated security software for long time and that was the primary reason behind recent security breach in September.
“Several former Home Depot employees said they were not surprised the company had been hacked,” reports The NY Times. “They said that over the years, when they sought new software and training, managers came back with the same response: ‘We sell hammers.'”
