David Marcus, current President of Ebay’s subsidiary PayPal is stepping down from company and he is joining Facebook in order to lead the messaging products as per the latest of Facebook.
“While I was in the middle of my thought process about what was next for me, Mark Zuckerberg and I got together. Mark shared a compelling vision about mobile messaging,” wrote by Marcus in a Facebook post.
He added “At first, I didn’t know whether another big company gig was a good thing for me, but Mark’s enthusiasm, and the unparalleled reach and consumer engagement of the Facebook platform ultimately won me over.”
Marcus started his career at 23 when he founded his first venture, GTN Telecom and served as the Chairman and CEO until GTN was acquired by World Access in 2000.
As far as Facebook is concerned “We are incredibly excited to work together with David and to learn from all his experience, and David will be sharing more about his work in the coming months. Welcome aboard!” said by company in a press release.
