Have you ever thought of becoming a blogger and choose blogging as a profession! My this article is specially dedicated to those who ever had idea in their mind to create a blog and select blogging as a profession but fear is the fact which hinder their thought to take this as a profession as many fears and risks are involved in becoming a blogger.
So Here I will discuss the facts and kinds of fears associated with blogging as a profession in its initial phase and How did i overcome those fears and what are the risks taken by me to become an established blogger which may definitely helps you in some aspects.
Fears and Uncertainties Associated With Newbie Bloggers and Their Blogs
1. Fear of Failure
I know the fact that no one wants to face the failure in any phase of his/her life and that’s the main reason which demoralize them to undertake any risk and same thing has been applied for blogging profession. I would say that being a blogger is like being an entrepreneur and failure is the essence of every profession and so you should face it in different approach as every mistakes in our life are the ingredients for doing better.
2. Whether Blog Will Generate Money or not
This is the most common question blogger asked to oneself that whether his/her newbie blog will generate money or not. It is the major dilemma which sometimes stop oneself to choose blogging as a profession. For them, I would like to mention this thing that, if you are creating a blog with courage and focused mind so then it will definitely going to rise in future. In short, newbie blog is like a seed of money plant that may take some time and efforts to become a fully fledged money tree but requires the sunlight of your dedication and water of your smart work.
3. Should I Quit My Present Job To Become A Professional Blogger
As far as i am concerned, this is the most devastating thought that doesn’t allowed a person to turning into a professional and full-time blogger. From a common person point of view, many people who thought of becoming a blogger but put a full stop to their never started career in the fear of loosing their existing job, they are not wrong in any aspect as it requires lots of courage and guts to quit an established job and putting oneself into an unknown journey.
On this note, I would like to add this thing that never take blogging as way of generating income in one night or in one month because it is a serious business and as i have mentioned above that “blogger is like being an entrepreneur” similarly “blogging is like an entrepreneurship” and “running a blog is similar to running a business”. So in my opinion, you can’t do blogging and your job together, may be you can but dear blogging is the combination of journalism and writing which involves creativity as well so you have to eliminate one activity from your life and its your choice whether you will select your present job or dream of blogging as your life partner.
How did i overcome those fears and what are the risks taken by me?
I started my blog back in 2011 when blogging was not new to everyone but a fresh way of writing and a form of modern journalism for me at least. At present my age is 18 and at that time i was a 15 years old boy who studied in 10th standard but i had faced some different situations which are contrary to those i have mentioned above.
When i had thought of starting my own blog, first thing came to my mind was money as somewhere on internet i had seen an article stating “How To Generate Money From Blog” then after lots of research I got to know that blog can actually generate revenue because at that time, already many bloggers like Pete Cashmore of mashable.com and Michael Arrington of TechCrunch.com was established in blogosphere.
After had a research and study about blogging for couple of months, I was all set to start my own blog but for a child, it is really hard to borrow a credit card from his/her parents for making a purchase of domain name and web hosting on internet and blogging was something that i can’t able to explain it to my parents in a proper manner because in India (mass is not aware of blogging) So I had fear of telling them about this activity because it was 10th and every student in India knows the pressure of 10th standard where parents use to exert psychological pressure as well and in that scenario, no parent wouldn’t like their child to engage in time-wasting activity. But I had approach for it and I knew what I am going to do, so I told my mom about the whole program of blogging and how to earn money from it and she may not understood it well but still for her son’s sake she did ask my dad for credit card as I want to start of website kind of thing. But my father is not one of those who would agree to anything without having a proper and well-cleared reason and then I told my father about blogging, what activity is needed in this profession, how to earn money from it and other stuffs related. Eventually he did agree and allowed me to use his credit card for setting up my blog but in return he told me to not compromise my study in any way because of this blogging kind of activity.
Now I succeed in overcome my first fear associated with this profession and then there was a big challenge in front of me that what topics my blog should cover which helps my blog to get global exposure as I was the only writer for my blog so I had to select a topic where my knowledge area is quite good and I was passionate about technology whether it is about mobile or newly born gadget. And key to success is that write about those topic which you are passionate of.
Finally everything was going well but in order to pursue my dream of blogging for long time, I had to develop a balance between my blogging and studies and that was the turning point as my blog wasn’t about guiding and how-to materials rather it was about daily happening in tech industry so I was required to provide fresh articles on regular basis in order to maintain a descent amount of traffic. Eventually I succeed in balancing my both works because I enjoyed studies and other hand I was passionate about blogging also so I was doing two favorite things of my life so it wasn’t at all an impossible but little difficult for me to manage in initial period.
After a period of one year In 2012 I had my first earning of $20 and after that, I use to generate a descent amount of revenue from my blog every month and I would say this how I took the risk and it helped me to overcome my fear.
