Jays, a Sweden-based manufacturer of earphones, is producing elite class earphones and headphones for almost a decade and still retouching. In other words, we can say that if Bose is Mercedez, Sennheiser is BMW then Jays is no less than Audi.
When we talk about the exclusivity according to the mobile OS in the earphone segment, then it’s equal to nil. As we are buying a standard earphone that could work on all variety of phones, be it an Android, iOS or Windows-based. But here you have to understand that an earphone which is working effectively on an Android-based smartphone may not deliver the same performance with the Windows or iOS based phones. That’s what Jays have managed to rectify with their ‘a-JAYS Five earphones’ line as these earphone has separate editions for Android, iOS, and Windows.
And this time, we are reviewing the Android edition of a-JAYS Five earphones, but here you see, these earphones are not launched yesterday or consist any sort of latest technology but the main idea behind the review of this particular product is to recall these precious earphones as they remained as effective as they were back in 2014. In spite of all audio transformation in an Android operating system, these earphones have excellently managed to perform well even with latest smartphones of 2016.
So here we are going to pore over the factors that make them evergreen.
As far as unboxing of a-JAYS Five is concerned, Jays have managed to raise the standard of its case with a more premium feel and keeping overall theme simple. The earphone case comes in a cylindrical shape that carries an earphone cord of 115 cm, five different sizes of silicone ear tips, and a cable clip. Although a couple of items were missing inside the box that Jays has offered in the past, including an airline adapter, and a headphone output splitter but that can be avoided as most people don’t use these anyway.

Features and Design
As we’ve mentioned earlier, one of the most appreciable fact about these earphones is that they are available for all three smartphone OS ecosystem that includes Android, iOS, and Windows. And also, all three versions comes with a three-button microphone. One thing that we’ve seen in past that most android headphones come with a single button, but here Jays have made an exception by bringing three-button earphones for android also.
When we talk about the design aspect of these earphones, a-Jays Five feel so comfy in your hands when you pick them up – it’s outer layer that is made of rubbery silicone material brought its comfort level to the different extent.
At the same time, the fitting of these ear tips may not be congruent for most of the people as they felt too large in our ears, although they had been there for a while, but after some time they felt like they were loosening up and onset to come out. Even though we tried various sizes of eartips, but none of those were having a suitable fit. Then we decided to stick ourselves to the medium one as it was the way more secure and comfortable than other sizes.
But what we really liked about these earphones is the tangle-resistant element, as the manufacturer claimed these earphones to be a tangle-free product. But here we would like to put a word of caution for those folks who’ve faced trouble getting a good fit with in-ears in the past then these a-Jays Five are certainly not the ideal option for you.
a-JAYS Five Earphones for Android is available for only £40.00 from Mobilefun.
The a-Jays five have a rich, big, and punchy bass that uplifts the listening experience of music. But somewhere down the line, the sound quality of these earphones hasn’t seen as something extraordinary. In simple words, the sound merits of a-Jays five are at par.
But what we actually liked about these earphones is the Five’s midrange response and how well the upper midrange transitioned to the treble, which made energetic vocal performances a good piece to listen to. Also, the intricate overtones that upper brass instruments generate had firmness, which makes the listening experience of bass-rich music amazing.
