Many of us are living with a stigma that only Pixel owners can enjoy the awesome services of Google Assistant (Intelligent personal assistant developed by Google).
Don’t worry! Here I’ve got the solution for all those who wants to experience the Google Assistant’s prompt intelligence and most probably can’t afford or don’t want to buy Google Pixel device.
Recently, Google made the confirmation that they are all set to roll out Google Assistant to almost all Android smartphones running Android 6.0 Marshmallow or higher. But the sad part of the story is that the rollout has been drastically slow and a majority of them are still waiting for the G Assistant to land on their smartphone devices.
Remember: The only prerequisite to try out this method is your Android smartphone must be running Marshmallow or higher version.
This method may or may not work on Samsung’s J Series smartphones. But give it a try.
Here are the simple steps to enable Google Assistant on your Android device without root access:
Step 1: At first, you will be required to access the beta version of Google Play Services and the Google App. To do this, simply go to Settings > Google, tap on three dot vertical menu button on the top right corner and then, click on ‘Help & Feedback‘.
Step 2: Now in the ‘Help‘ page, again tap on three dot vertical menu button and click “View in Google Play Store“. This will redirect you to the Play Store page of Google Play Services. Here, you just need to scroll down and tap on the “I’m in” button in “Become a beta tester” section.
Then, tap on ‘Join‘, after which the beta signup will be in progress mode. Remember, it will take around 5 to 15 minutes depending upon your device to complete the process.
Step 3: Now perform the same procedure for the Google App (search it on play store) by signing up for its beta program as well.
Step 4: Once it is done, wait for few minutes and then, head to Play Store. Here, go to the “My apps & games” section and head to the “Beta” tab, where you can see Google and Google Play Services. Here just make sure to update both of them.
Step 5: Once the apps are updated, this one is the important one. Now go to your phone’s Settings > Language & Input > Select English (United States) That’s it.
Step 6: Once the apps are updated, move to Settings > Apps. Here you need to go to the Application Manager > Google App > Storage > Manage Space and tap on “Clear All Data“.
Same thing for Google Play Services (clear all data).
Step 7: Now just long press the home button of your smartphone, it will launch the Google Assistant. That’s it, It’s Done.
Now the Google Assistant will be available for you. So you can simply ask the G Assistant ‘What can you do’ and it will show you a list of things it can do for you. In general, you can use Google Assistant set reminders, get news, check the weather, play games, get a variety of info across the web etc.
In case the aforementioned trick doesn’t work, you can also try installing the beta versions of the Google app and Google Play Services through APK files.
Let me know in the comment section if this method works for you and also mention any sort of query if you are finding any kind of difficulty in performing this technique.
