Perhaps you’ve heard of ASUS if you’re quite familiar with the world of motherboards and computers and if that is the case then perhaps you’d even know that ASUS is even trying its hand in other areas of technology such as smartphones and smartwatches. To name a mobile of ASUS is perhaps a Zenfone and similarly, to name a smartwatch of their series, perhaps it would be best to list out ZenWatch.
So, ZenWatch huh? At the pre IFA 2014 event, ASUS had formally announced the launch of its smartwatch in the IFA 2014 event. This also happens to be the first wearable device to be made by ASUS and only time can tell if this launch of their will be able to yield any benefit or not?
What is interesting though is that unlike other Android Wear smartwatches which has been unveiled and launched thus far, the Asus ZenWatch features a rectangular display with curved corners, a first of its kind. And if you’d ask what’s the idea behind such a design? Asus would say that the final product was inspired by the company’s user-centric ‘design thinking’ philosophy, and is aimed at enabling users to be “always be connected to everything.”
When it comes to hardware then the specifications of the Asus ZenWatch include a 1.63-inch AMOLED display with a 320×320 pixel resolution, translating to a pixel density of 278ppi. In terms of power, It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, coupled with 512MB of RAM. It features 4GB of built-in storage, and a 1.4Wh battery.
