Perhaps everyone who has a smartphone do also have an application installed in their smartphone, called as the WhatsApp. This messenger app is one of the widely used apps across the world and is perhaps the “SMS-killer” of the telecom industry. However, Google has plans to introduce their own version of a messenger app and I bet we all are eager to see how it’s going to turn out.
A report on NDTV had mentioned that tech giant Google may well be on its way to launch its own mobile messaging app. And to add on that, it seems Google may be testing the product in the emerging markets first, including India.
What’s perhaps even more tempting is that the messaging app will be of free cost to everyone and should be available in the Google Play store. However, we cannot confirm the exact launch date of the app.
This means that WhatsApp, which has remained in the number one position in the field of messenger app will be facing some stiff competition from Google. Earlier, competition for WhatsApp meant other messaging services such as Hike (created in India) and WeChat (created in China). However, introduction of Google into the list of competition could also mean that WhatsApp will be keeping some services in line when they launch their updated version of the app.
