The bedroom, for many, is the most sacred room of the house. Whether you live alone, are married, in a relationship or share your space with a roommate, it should be the one place you can go to relax after a hard day’s work. Here are a few fun gadgets to make your personal living space even better.
Blu-Ray Players
The DVD is slowly going the way of VHS (and for about 6 months, the laserdisc), and Blu-ray stands atop the entertainment world as its new champion. That is, until technology graces us with its next big invention… What’s cool about having a Blu-ray player, outside of the obvious fact that you can play all your favorite movies in super high definition, is that many of them can also link up to the internet, social media, video sharing and rental companies, etc. Some Blu-ray discs actually download new previews for you to watch!
Wall Mounts for Tablets
This would of course require you to have one of those newfangled gadgets called a “tablet”, but as millions of them in all shapes, brands and sizes have been flying off the shelf for years, it’s a safe bet that many of you do. Wall mounts are inexpensive solutions to get your tablet in a convenient space in your bedroom. Technology has enabled them to be synched to all kinds of things, including lights, televisions, DVD and Blu-ray players, stereo systems, etc. Instead of digging around trying to find your tablet, instead of relaxing, put it up on a wall mount and always know where it is. That makes for some pretty cool mood lighting too, if you’re into that sort of thing. (On a non-bedroom-related note, in most cases wall mounts can be easily relocated, meaning it makes a fantastic kitchen tool as well!)
Surround Sound
Having the perfect configured stereo set-up can make a huge difference in the way you watch movies, listen to music, or even fall asleep at night. You can play video games and feel like you’re in the heat of battle, or drift peacefully off to sleep, comforted by the 360-degree sounds of an ocean. If you go the bluetooth route, it’s also another fun thing to hook up to that aforementioned tablet!
Dimming Lights
Is there anything more jarring than having a bright light bulb turned on in the midst of total darkness? It’s also very difficult to relax when surrounded by those extremes. Dimming lights and light switches are incredibly cheap and easy to install, but are very rewarding. You can also buy more lamps and regulate the light in your room that way, but a dimmer switch is a whole lot easier, and gives you the ultimate control.
A Media Server
Media servers are handy, relatively inexpensive tools that allow you to connect your television and other electronic devices wirelessly, all throughout your house. Let’s say you want to curl up with a blanket and watch a movie from your bed, but the computer your movie resides on is downstairs in the office. Set up a media server on that computer, share folders and files you want to be able to access, and it’s as simple as that.
